Completing a High Tech Urban Campus
Amazon Phases 7 & 8 represent the final two buildings of Vulcan Real Estate’s development of the company’s expansion along 9th Avenue N, bringing Amazon’s South Lake Union footprint to 2.7 million square feet.
Each 12-story building includes ground floor retail space and an ample publicly accessible plaza with a collection of planted islands, artful seating elements, creative paving, and commissioned artwork. Comprised of more than 350 circular glass panels forming cloud-like shapes, Northwest artist Dan Corson’s Nebulous hangs above the Phase 7 open space at 9th and Harrison, providing a focal point for the property. At Phase 8, the 6,600 square foot plaza along Thomas Street includes a water feature and artwork designed by Seattle-based Lead Pencil Studio. Entitled Re-Stack, stacked rectangular wire forms are reminiscent of the buildings of the city’s past while alluding to the structures of its future.
Amazon Phases 7 & 8 are highly sustainable buildings that include innovative indoor and outdoor common areas for employee collaboration while providing an attractive streetscape for passing pedestrians.
