Housed in a 270,000-square-foot life sciences building, Allen Institute's new headquarters are located at the northwest corner of Mercer St. and Westlake Avenue North in South Lake Union. The building is purpose-built for life science research and facilitates Vulcan-affiliated world leading organizations specializing in brain science, cell science and immunology.
The building design brings in abundant natural light and offers stunning views of Seattle. It incorporates the renovation of the historic Pacific and McKay Buildings, including the preservation of the structures' terra cotta facades, which were disassembled, restored and reinstalled.
At six stories, the building includes approximately 11,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and two levels of subterranean parking.
