505 UNION STATION
BUILDING INFORMATION

History

The Union Station Development began with the October 1999 reopening of the original Union Station, a Seattle Designated Historic Landmark, located at the North end of the development. The extensive renovation of Union Station, which originally opened in 1911, won the 2000 National Preservation Honor Award.

505 Union Station opened in September 2000, followed by the separate development of 605, 625 and 705 Union Station. The extensive parking facility includes a seven story garage on the South end of the development and provides parking for 1,050 vehicles. The overall Development won NAIOPs Office Development of the Year - Central Business District 2000 Award.

Building Description

Just south of Seattle's Central Business District, 505 is adjacent to the city's central business district and flanked by Safeco Field, Qwest Field, Interstates 5 and 90, the Metro bus tunnel, and the Sounder commuter train.

This state-of-the-art, 11-story, Class A building opened in 2000 and provides 295,000 square feet of office and retail space. Since it opened, the building has remained in demand by high-tech companies and professional services firms. Its public plaza features attractive water elements and sculptures, and has become a popular gathering place for workers and residents to enjoy lunch or occasional musical performances.

One of the building's most well-known design features is its curved "waterfall of glass" made of a contiguous curve of blue-green glass, providing an attractive addition to the Seattle skyline.
